About Me

Hi, I’m Wendy - person, mother, wife, daughter, friend, aunt and pawrent to a golden retriever. I’m married with three children and am based in Leixlip - the place I grew up.

I breastfed my first baby for a few weeks but I felt really overwhelmed and had no idea what I was doing.

On my second baby, I was determined to find out more about breastfeeding, so I went to a Cuidiú breastfeeding support group during my pregnancy and joined lots of breastfeeding Facebook groups.

This kind of support enabled me to breastfeed for a year and by the time I had my third baby, I knew that I wanted to help empower other parents with the knowledge and support to have a successful breastfeeding experience.

I trained for two years to become a volunteer Breastfeeding Counsellor with Cuidiú and once I was qualified, I studied for a further three years, to become a lactation consultant or an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), as it’s offically known. I’m a registered member of ALCI (Association of Lactation Consultants in Ireland) and I was nominated for Lactation Consultant of the Year 2024 at the Friends of Breastfeeding Awards in May 2024.

I offer prenatal and postnatal breastfeeding consultations in your own home and I also provide lactation and breastfeeding support at a weekly tongue tie clinic in Maynooth with Liz Halliday at The Resolution Clinic

I support breastfeeding parents all over North Kildare and its surrounding areas (Leixlip, Celbridge, Maynooth, Straffan, Kilcock, Clane), as well as West Dublin, South West Dublin and the Kildare/Meath border towns of Clonee and Dunboyne. I love supporting families and helping them try to overcome breastfeeding challenges, so that they can meet their own personal breastfeeding goals, whatever they may be.
